The sea-borders radar wall - Marine Radar Detection Buoy
During years '84-'85 a number of anti-intrusion buoys were installed by the Egyptian' Navy to protect
an important strategic harbor.
The buoy is manufactured in marine stainless steel and seems a scaled oil platform .
The marine stainless steel structure will be maintenance-free and will guarantee a long service-time.
The weight is approximately 25 metric tons and size is 10 by 10 meters by 12 mt high.
The main deck is approximately 3 mt above the water level.
On the deck it's fix tower were are installed the main search radar antenna, the marine lantern,
the passive radar reflector, the fog sound signal, several protection devices,
and, if requested, a meteorological station.
The focal plane of the marine lantern is 8 meters over the sea level .
Main search Radar standard detection range is fixed to 10 nml .
Radar has an output of 4 Kw and an 8 colors resolution.
The platform is operational up to sea state 7 and is moored by chains and deadweight or, in case of high
sea locations, by a innovative "tension leg" system operational up to 500 mt depth.
On-board electric power is supplied by three large size solar panels and stored by a number of
electric sealed accumulators.
The Search radar images are transmitted every 5 minutes to the ground command and control
station as compressed file, in order to reduce the satellite utilization time.
The two-ways data link transmission is made by satellite to any location worldwide.
In case of needs, from the Command and Control Station, it's possible to adjust the radar settings as
well as to have a real-time non-stop data link to the platform.
Ground operator will control the 20nml range in a main 8 color screen.
Images from the primary computer screen will be transferred to a secondary screen to analyze the echoes,
to evaluate size, speed and direction of each target, as well as to determinate the position.
The Command and Control Station main frame will be able to record and to store up to six days
of standard transmissions images.
With the installation of the radar platforms we reach three main goals.
First of all we detect all intrusions from the open seas to our national waters.
Second:
we follow the all small boats sailing from our seashore to the open sea .
Third:
we are able to detect ant to stop all transboarding illegal activities.
